Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (followed by 10 minutes of discussion) addressing any topic related to the theme of the conference, including but not limited to the topic areas in the following:

Global Media and Culture Communication

Media Literacies

Cross-linguistic and Cross-cultural Communication

Professional Communication in Transnational Settings

Multilingual and Multicultural Development

The International Dissemination of Chinese

Language Policy and Language Planning

Language Contact and Language Change

Language Variation, Language Standard, and Language Testing

Digitalization and Resource Development for Language Learning, Teaching and Testing

Multimedia for Language Teaching and Research

Acquiring First and Additional Language(s)

Teaching First and Additional Language(s)

 

- Abstracts (and talks) may be in English or Chinese. English abstracts should be no more than 500 words, while abstracts in Chinese should be no more than 1,000 Chinese characters in length, including examples and references.

- In the body of the abstract, please include title of paper, name, affiliation, address, phone number, e-mail, and audiovisual requests.

- Abstracts may be sent by e-mail or mail.

The conference will also conduct a session for ACS Young Scholars Award in 2008. Please submit a full paper, before 30 November, 2007, via email to ctdwu@inet.polyu.edu.hk if you wish to be considered for the ACS (The Association of Chinese Sociolinguistics) Young Scholars Award.

Eligibility for applying for the award: 40 years of age or younger.
